Hosted by Project Healthy Minds as part of the World Mental Health Day Festival 2025, this special talk features Jonathan Haidt in conversation with Katie Couric on The Great Rewiring of Childhood. Taking place on Friday, October 10 at Spring Studios, 50 Varick Street, New York, NY, the event explores how the rapid shift from play-based to phone-based childhood around 2012 sparked an international youth mental health crisis — and how society can reverse it.

In this 50-minute session, Haidt examines the decline in teen well-being as one of the greatest losses of human capital in history, making the case for solutions such as phone-free schools, policy change, and restoring independence and purpose to young people.

As part of the larger World Mental Health Day Festival, CONVENE brings together leading voices from research, culture, and media to chart a path toward a healthier future. This conversation offers timely insight for educators, parents, policymakers, and advocates committed to reversing today’s mental health crisis.
