Hosted by New York Disaster Interfaith Services (NYDIS) in collaboration with The Salvation Army, this Blended Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training is a comprehensive program designed to equip community members and faith leaders with essential mental health support skills. Taking place on Thursday, April 16 at The Salvation Army, New York, NY, the training combines a 2-hour self-paced virtual module with a 6-hour in-person, instructor-led session.

Mental Health First Aid is a globally recognized program that teaches participants how to identify risk factors and warning signs of mental health challenges, understand their impact, and provide initial support during a crisis. Through interactive methods such as role-playing, discussions, and guided activities, attendees learn how to assess situations, respond effectively, and connect individuals to professional and community resources.

All materials and an MHFA manual are included, and participants who complete the training and assessment receive a certification valid for three years. The course is free for individuals from faith-based organizations and available for a fee to others.
